I have spent the last two years with Readyhosting as my hosting company for my website. If you've been following my blog, you'll know that I wasn't too happy with them. Lost emails, changing settings on my emails so that items that forwarded suddenly didn't and got left to languish in unchecked mailboxes, etc. caused me to finally bite the bullet and find a new hosting company.
You would think that this process would be easy - send out my requirements to a variety of likely candidates and get back answers, right? Wrong. For three weeks I sent out requests for hosting companies to tell me if they could meet the needs of my website and I got not a single response - including from the companies that were referred to me by their current clients. Wow. I'm happy for them that they have so much business that they can ignore new business coming in, but sheesh. At least a "I'm sorry, we're not taking new clients at this time" would have been sufficient.
So I finally gave up and called GoDaddy.com who has the registration for my domain names. In two days (there's lag time as you set up the accounts), we had my website set up and switched over and they walked me - a mostly uninitiated web person in these matters - through the process of setting up the new host, moving my website, and getting my nameservers (the things that tell the web where to find your site) changed. It has been seamless. And they have 24/7 customer support and reasonable prices. Who knew?
I gotta tell you - if you're looking for a new hosting company, you really can't do better for customer service and support than GoDaddy.com.
