Keep Their Hands In YOUR Candy Jar

The Candy JarYou're a new agent who really wants to learn the business or an experienced agent who likes to be "in the know" about all the deals going on.  If you're wondering how you get time with the top producers in your office to pick their brains, then here's a great tip for you.

Put a candy jar on your desk. When you fill the jar, don't be cheap about the candy you buy. Put in the good chocolate treats. You WANT your coworkers to eat this stuff. You want them to eat it a lot. That way, every time they stop by your desk, you can ask them how things are going and listen to the pearls of wisdom. If your desk is the center of the social circle for the office, you'll find out more about deals going on, new listings coming in, and tips on how to handle problems that come up along the way. A complete education and link into the internal network of your office, all for the cost of some candy.

Thanks for this tip go to Ludwig Pulaski, owner of Ludwig Pulaski Real Estate in Quaker Hill, CT.

Kelle, I had NO idea you have ever been in my office :-)   I also have a chair strategically placed near said candy plate.   Right before lunch time is the time alot of agents come in to my office.  I am not above trading sweets for advice and wisdom.

The loan officer in our office does this - it's a big hit - you can hardly go in there and take a handfull of his candy without saying something to him - even if it's just HI.

Not a bad idea. HOw true though. Find out who the real players are by looking at the stats like number of transactions closed, sales volume... and talk to them about what has helped them be successful. If there is someone in your office (or maybe your broker) who is willing and has fruit on the tree ask them to mentor you

haha...sneaky and very clever! not a bad idea at all though. It gives you that moment to get to know individuals and also, like you said, pick their brains.

Very nice, Great ideas there. I did not think about that one. I just worked in the work room hoping they would stop by and say something that I needed to hear.
