Organize Your Email Inbox

I don't know about you, but I get a lot of emails that I may or may not ever have the chance to read, but which I don't want to unsubscribe from.  But what happens is that they clog up my inbox.  I can have upwards of 200 unread emails in my box at any given time and that's really bad when you realize that some of those emails that I don't HAVE to read may be pushing others that I do off the radar entirely.

So tonight I did some reorganizing.  I put a bunch of filters in place on my Outlook.  Now my newsletters all go to a Newsletter box.  And emails from specific people that I need to be able to track the conversation go to email boxes with their names on them.  All the ads that I keep for marketing research purposes are in their own folder too.

I'm down to 64 unread emails.  I know - still too many.  But I'm working on it.  That's not bad for half an hour's worth of sorting.  I'm down almost 150 emails.  But my brain is bleary now and I need to be done on the computer.  Time to go out and have some fun.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Kelle,

My artbusiness coach has also been blogging about email organization. It is a very good point. When my computer desk top and in box are as piled up as my desk I am in big trouble! By the way, I checked out your site through a mutual friend. I am an artist not in real estate, but as a blogging artist, I can't resist checking out blogs. You do good work, and know what's important to the clinet, I can tell from your website!

Thanks,

Carla

Gail - I will eventually get through all of the folders.  But this way I can do it systematically.  I intend on deleting a ton of files.  I actually did a quick tutorial on the Microsoft website that taught me how to change the sorting of my files so I could sort by files size and that allowed me to delete a TON of files that were taking up way too much space on my hard drive.  That was a good start.  You have to start somewhere...
