MyBlogLog.com - Track Your Blog Stats and Integrate Your Profiles

Podcamp BostonYet another post that can be directly attributed to Podcamp Boston 2

Have you been wondering what the deal is with the "recent readers" widget on the right side of my page?  Well, it's this cool thing from MyBlogLog that identifies people who are members of the site who visit your blog.  Back office-wise, it gives you statistics on where those people came in from (not who came from where, but an aggregate of where your visitors came from) and what links they clicked on.  It gives you much more useful statistics overall than just the ones we can get from ActiveRain.

First sign up for an account on MyBlogLog.

Then click on the "Get Widgets" button in the middle of the MyBlogLog home page.  Choose your widgets.  What you see on my site is the Recent Readers (modified to 10 rows and no names) and Top Links codes together.  Copy the codes from the site.

Then to add this widget to your page, all you have to do is click on "My Settings" from your home page on AR.  Then insert the code into the Blog Description Box NOT the Blog Description TEXT box.  (Thanks to Brad Andersohn who noticed I had it in the wrong place and told me how to fix it.)

It also allows you to connect all of your profiles from other places through MyBlogLog.  You can put in your profiles on MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, diggit, del.icio.us, etc.  (If you don't know what some of these things are, don't worry.  I'll explain them all in the coming posts.)  This way, when someone sees you on someone else's blog, they can follow the link back to your profile on MyBlogLog.  From that profile, they can follow your links to any of the places that you have linked them.  This way, you can drive additional traffic to your site from visitng other people's blogs.  Whee!

Great post.  Mybloglog is a great way to get a community started just like here in AR.  HouseFront just recently got online with mybloglog and we are working on joining other communities and connecting with blogs right now.  Its a great resource everyone should take advantage of it.

Roland,

If you follow the directions above exactly, then it should work perfectly.  If you're having other problems, you'll have to give me more to go on before I can help.

Hey Ginger,  Sorry - I haven't tried doing either of these things yet.  You may want to ask Amy Chorew if she knows how.  She is the guru of all things tech.  Good luck!
